Over-Appropriation in portions of the Yampa

On January 19, 2022, the State Engineer issued a memo to DWR staff, designating portions of the Yampa River above the confluence with the Little Snake River as Over-Appropriated.  The State Engineer’s Office has developed guidance for people applying for well permits for new or existing uses in the newly Over-Appropriated area. Please direct well permitting questions to AskDWR (available on DWR’s website at dwr.colorado.gov) or the Groundwater Information Line, 303-866-3587, staffed Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm
