Board of Examiners Appointment

Pursuant to HB25-1165, Governor Polis has appointed a sixth individual to the Board of Examiners of Water Well and Ground Heat Exchangers, formerly the Board of Examiners of Water Well Construction and Pump Installation Contractors.  Terril (Terry) Proffer will serve as the individual with a minimum of 10 years’ experience relating to ground heat exchangers and is appointed for a term ending June 30, 2029.  Mr. Proffer has been involved in the ground source heat pump mechanical trades since 1992 after a career as a petroleum geologist starting in 1979.  He has training from experienced mechanical contractors and loop installers and has installed ground heat exchangers from the ground loop through the controls.  Mr. Proffer is a certified installation trainer; one of 16 individuals approved as a Certified GeoExchange Designer Trainer by IGSSHPA, and has trained over 700 contractors and engineers in this technology.  Mr. Proffer’s extensive industry experience, knowledge of all aspects of the ground heat exchangers, and skills as a trainer will serve to support his role on the Board.  Click the links for more information on the Board of Examiners and geothermal operations.
