Colorado Division of Water Resources, Dam Safety, just published new Guidelines for the Use of Regional Extreme Precipitation Study (REPS) Rainfall Estimation Tools.

The big change is our new REPS PMP Web Tool, developed by Applied Weather Associates under contract with Colorado Dam Safety and other dam safety agencies.  The REPS PMP Web Tool replaces the old desktop ArcTool, so users no longer need to have ArcMap, futures REPS updates can be pushed out seamlessly, AND best of all, the REPS PMP Web Tool runs much faster!

Other REPS updates include:
•    reanalysis of the Saguache 1999 storm, which decreases Local Storm PMP for basins areas between about 2 and 100 square miles and above 7500 feet elevation
•    new weblink to the REPS MetPortal Precipitation Frequency (PF) Tool, now hosted by RTI International of Fort Collins, Colorado
•    Updated guidance on areal reduction factors for watershed PF estimates
•    Updated guidance on use of REPS tools for hydrologic risk analysis vs. design flood studies
